What will Fredericksburg be like in the future – say 10 years, 20 years, or even 100 years from now?

I envision an even more dynamic, welcoming, and diverse community in which to live, visit, work, learn, and play.

But to strengthen and ensure Fredericksburg’s future,
we need to start now
by properly employing 21st Century solutions to challenges we are and will be facing in the near future.
Rappahannock River Tubing in Fredericksburg September 3, 2019
While making decisions that shape our future, we must keep in mind the vision of what we want our City to be. It will be complicated and challenging, given the development pressures that are coming down I-95. We will build, of course, but we can’t let that destroy what we all love about this place.

I think most of us can agree on our goals:

Robust economic development creating a dynamic workforce that attracts well-paying jobs, and re-ignites a focus on our tourism assets
Learn More
First-rate education that not only prepares our youth for the future, but positions our schools as vital community hubs
Learn More
Equitable housing that provides a diverse socio-economic population with places to work, live, learn and play
Learn More
Transportation solutions that incorporate 21st Century thinking
Learn More
Healthy, clean, and sustainable environmental practices that make Fredericksburg a model for Virginia
Learn More
Development that enhances our City’s sense of place
Learn More
We must leverage our amazing community assets while being fiscally responsible. Our goals must all be balanced and handled conscientiously and intentionally to reach the results we want.
It won’t be easy but it is achievable – as long as we remember that all of the key issues are interrelated: they overlap like a Venn Diagram. Moving forward on solutions for these issues will depend greatly upon community engagement, transparent decision-making, and strong leadership.
